The Training Team members provide training sessions about human trafficking and modern-day slavery that may last anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours. We strive to educate participants about what human trafficking is (both locally and globally), debunk the myths of human trafficking, and provide means for our audience to become more involved with combating this crime in the DC area.

We conduct these sessions with diverse audience members, such as:

  • health care organizations
  • government entities
  • the hotel industry
  • universities
  • high schools
  • neighborhood watch groups
  • community events
  • faith-based organizations
  • non-profit organizations

Our collaborative partners include representatives from other anti-human trafficking organizations, law enforcement, legal professionals, and specialized subject-matter experts. These training sessions address the following topics:

  • The history of slavery in the US and the similarities between the Transatlantic Slave Trade and slavery as it is exists today
  • The distinction between prostitution and commercial sex trafficking
  • Types of labor trafficking
  • Laws against human trafficking
  • How human trafficking occurs in the DC Metropolitan area, the US, and globally
  • Who is at risk of being trafficked
  • What are the recruitment processes that traffickers use
  • How to spot the signs of trafficking victims
  • How to safely help suspected victims
  • Ways to combat human trafficking in your community and become more involved with the cause
